War’s Youth

My photographs are a blend of portrait photography, historical scenes, and narratives. I draw from a palette of well known symbolic icons, in this case a young soldier embracing his lover before his departure. We go on location to a marble staircase and visit some war tanks to capture some stunning portraits of a 1940s WWII Era young soldier! For this piece I worked with the iconography of 1930s and 40s American soldier in his moments before the war. . I am not looking to replicate history exactly, rather to create a moment that lets the subject fall into the role of my vision. I am interested in conjuring the space to allow, the spirit of who ever my subject is channeling to emerge and present themselves.
